About the Backfire Company

The team behind this longboard is Backfire. Founders Jerry and Randy were skateboard enthusiasts since college, back in the 2000’s. In 2009 they launched Backfire Skateboards with the mission to offer affordable boards that were still high quality. Fast forward five years and they entered the electric skateboard market. Since then the company has launched the Backfire G1, G2, and now the G2s.

When the team put the Backfire Galaxy G2s on Indiegogo to help raise funds for the project, it was very popular by boarders around the globe for its many features and high quality at a decent price point. Today Backfire has grown to be a leading Electric Skateboard brand.

What is the Galaxy G2s Made of?

This Backfire electric skateboard is composed of Hard Rock Maple. With eight layers of this material, it has the benefit of being super flexible while also providing a solid base for the feet. Furthermore, it is curved, making for great shock absorption on your ride. This means that the ride is smoother than with some other boards. The result is a fun experience that seems almost effortless.

Backfire’s Smart G2s Design

The Galaxy G2s electric longboard is 38 inches and features quality cells. It has a respectable battery at 36V, 5Ah. Also part of the design is 300-watt in hub motors. There are four pre-installed 80mm wheels too.

Its slightly concave surface makes for a board that many riders say is stable. It helps to make riding and turning easier, with the user feeling in control with their feet, even if they are a newer rider or on a longer ride.

There are mixed reviews online about the hub motor design. While some riders find they provide a good riding experience, others report a bit of vibration. For users feeling any vibration issues, swapping out the 80mm pair for the spare 96mm wheels that come in the G2s package can alleviate the issue.

A positive attribute too is that Backfire uses a modern motor controller that is reliable and smooth. What’s more, all of this with a light weight of just 14.5 lbs.

The Caliber II front truck is impressive too. This feature allows for awesome carving and is a rarity for Chinese boards. Lastly, the enclosures look custom rather than like an awkward add-on.

Performance Ratings of the Galaxy G2s

This G2s from Backfire can go up to 23.5 miles per hour. This is fast, and still the user feels stable. It has one of the fastest speeds out there for electric skateboards!

According to Backfire, it goes as far as 12 miles or 20km on this board on a single battery charge. There is some variation with distance by rider’s weight, road conditions, and other factors. The charge time for the battery is 3.5 hours, which is average for electric longboards.
